Biggles In The Cruise Of The Condor (? Date) By Captain W.E. Johns

The Cruise of the Condor by W. E. Johns was the second Biggles book to be published and was first put out by John Hamilton in August 1933. Since that time there have been at least 13 other editions in the English language, soemtimes under a modified title such as "Biggles in the Cruise of the Condor" or "Biggles and the Cruise of the Condor". The story was also serialised in "Modern Boy" issues 340 to 346 (Aug 1934 - Sep 1934) under the title "Wings of Fortune".

The events in the book take place mainly in South America during the interwar years.

As the second ever Biggles novel, and featuring, as it did, a timeless tale of a treasure hunt, the story lent itself to some rather interesting derivative works. In May 1955, Juvenile Productions issued a annual sized hardback "stripbook" entitled Biggles in The Cruise of the Condor. This was a comic strip adaptation of the story drawn by Pat Williams. In 1973, the French girls' small format magazine series Tina featured an comic strip adaptation of the story with, of all people, Worrals and Frecks in place of Biggles and Algy! This was entitled Worrals Le trésor des Incas.
