Gallipoli: The Dardenelles Campaign 1915 (1996) DVD
In 1915 Allied strategists were desperate to find a 'back door' by which to defeat their enemies. A plan to seize the Gallipoli peninsula near Constantinople and knock the Turks out of the war was implemented. The initial landings of mainly Australian and new Zealand soldiers on 25th April 1915, achieved considerable surprise but swiftly developed into another stalemate. This program looks at the reasons why, despite a second set of landings the Gallipoli campaign turned into one of the most disastrous of the war.
