Original Gallipoli Movie Promotion Poster (1981)
 
This graphic and highly regarded film about the ill-fated Gallipoli Campaign of WW1 sees two Australian sprinters (played by Mel Gibson and Mark Lee) face the brutal realities of war when they are sent overseas to fight.
 
The main image is that of the two heroes racing to head off into military service (like so many young men of that era who saw the conflict as a great adventure away from small country towns).
 
This is a sought after ‘Country of Origin’ poster (an Australian poster for an Australian movie) and not only would it suit an Australian military collector, but also anyone who had family serving within that disastrous campaign, whether as ANZAC, British Army or other Commonwealth Forces.
