The author was 16 1/2 when he enlisted in the Australian Army to fight the Second World War.

 

The Sixpenny Soldier is an account of his life; from his childhood in various countries of the owned, as the family followed the postings of EC captain father, to his wartime experiences, serving as a frontline soldier in Libya; Greece and Crete and then in the Z Special Unit in Borneo
