The Australian Defence Force Reserves (1991)

A Parliamentary Joint Report on the state of play of the ADF Reserves. The terms of reference stipulated that the committee was to pay particular attention to policies outlined in The Defence of Australia 1987 and to Australia's strategic and geographic circumstances. Terms of Reference required the investigating and reporting on: the Reserves' structure and capabilities with respect to priority tasks; the different types of Reserve service (such as active, inactive, emergency, and full-time duty), the need for a new individual emergency reserve, their utility, and effectiveness of associated training programs; priorities and timeable for the further development of the Reserves, including the balance between Regulars and Reserves, the potential for closer integration with the Regular component; and the net resource implications of any changes to the structure, scope or capabilities of the Reserves, and the associated priorities of these changes.
