This documentary tells the story of the Avro Lancaster and its part in the bombing campaign of Germany. A campaign that remains highly controversial to this day. It follows the story from its beginnings in another, unsatisfactory aircraft to its present role as a flying memorial to all Royal Air Force aircrew who have sacrificed their lives in the service of their country.
