Conway's All the World's Fighting Ships 1906-21 (1985)
Heavily illustrated with both photographs and drawings in black and white throughout
Conway's All the World's Fighting Ships 1906-1921 is a complete listing of all the significant warships built, or projected, between the epoch-making Dreadnought and the Washington Treaty. The book is organized by country, subdivided chronologically by ship type and class, with detailed tabular data and design history. The important technical and political developments are covered in background articles introducing each navy and ship type, concluding with a complete statement of fleet strength in 1906. The class lists are illustrated with nearly 1,000 photographs and specially commissioned line drawings.
The four volumes cover the whole history of iron and steel warships, from the first ironclad to the present day, and between them give a degree of detail and completeness hardly matched by a whole library of previously published naval books. As well as detailing every ship, type by type and class by class, introductions and extended texts give the reader a deeper understanding of why, as well as how and when, naval developments took place.
